I read the whole essay and I wonder if it really will take "time" to overcome racism? As a person who has been around during the various race riots and have experienced the divide between people of color, and even the issues dealt with by those of a multi-racial background, I really do wonder...will things change if given enough time? It's been 50 years for me and I've yet to see complete acceptance. At least each generation seeks to embrace a little more. That's a good sign.
I wanted to let you know that I've created a link on my blog that helps you find each chapter of my novel in sequential order, finally! Now you can go back and start from the beginning! WOO-HOO!
I read "Waiting Under a Rug" at DVQ. Reading about your personal experience, I can honestly say that this is fairly common in the United States, even with President Obama as a figure head. Nice memoir. More folks need to understand the human element of it.
Hi. I'm the Vegetarian Cannibal.
My primary diet consists of broccoli and tofu and things like that, but I've been known to spoil myself on organisms higher up the food chain. Babies mostly. Sometimes clowns.
I'm a writer and this is my blog. :) I don't eat any of my fans, so don't worry. Just promise to clean up after you're done!
